Ascension Day
May 18 / 7:00 pm - 7:40 pm

Ascension Day, which we mark on Thursday with a service in church at 7.00pm, is a significant celebration that takes place on the fortieth day after Easter Sunday. It commemorates the Ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven after his Resurrection. The Ascension is a crucial event in the Christian faith, and it has significant relevance for us today.
The Ascension of Jesus Christ reminds us that he is not bound by the physical limitations of our world. It serves as a reminder that we can trust in God’s power and sovereignty, even when we cannot see the outcome. Furthermore, the Ascension of Jesus Christ marks the beginning of the Church’s mission on earth, as Christ commissioned his followers to spread the Gospel message to all nations.
Ascension Day is also a reminder that we are called to live in anticipation of Christ’s return. Just as the disciples watched Jesus ascend into heaven, we too are called to keep our eyes fixed on him and live our lives in anticipation of his return. We are to be faithful servants, using our talents and resources to serve God and others until he comes again.
Moreover, the Ascension of Jesus Christ assures us that we are not alone. The Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus before his ascension, is with us to guide, comfort, and empower us in our Christian walk. The Spirit gives us the strength and courage to persevere through difficult times and to share the good news of salvation with others.
